We always love hearing from artists that use our music in their projects. Willi Haninger is a talented Motion Graphic / After Effects artist who has utilized BrownHouseMedia’s music in his VideoHive After Effects projects.v Here is a bit more about Willi:

1. Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from? What do you do for a living?
My name is Willi Haninger, I’m a creative producer and motion designer living in Berlin/Germany.

How did you get started? Have you had any formal training?
I have formal training as a graphics designer, but my first job in a film studio made me curious about animation and VFX. So, within one year,  I taught myself AfterEffects and Cinema 4D basics and have been working as a motion designer for nearly ten years now. I’ve also recently started pulling in funding for my own projects and managing teams on bigger projects, hence the title creative producer. At some point, I will have to decide which road to walk, but for now I am very happy with both roles of Designer and Manager.

Describe your creative process. What steps do you normally follow to create your files?
The process is quite simple. I get inspired by a piece of animation I see in a movie or on the web, sometimes I get inspired by talking to people. And then I try out my own interpretation of the visuals. Sometimes, I go straight from idea to project, sometimes, the initial idea is transformed by other influences and the result resembles nothing I ever intended.

What are your three favorite files, and why do you like them?
No 1. Digital Glass
Reason: Certainly in need for an upgrade, but I still consider this to be the most fun project I ever developed. I really wanted to see full-glass smartphones exist, but at the same time not use any third party 3D-plugins. It took a lot of trying and failing to get this right and it still holds up today.

No 2. The Noir Pack
Reason: It is a very unique set of animations, very atmospheric and full of nostalgia. When I created it I was not thinking of a potential market, but only of how awesome it would be to have these iconic scenes in one single project.

No 3: Winter is coming
Reason: Not the most successful project sales wise. But I’m still very proud, since this project came to pass as I was conducting a test shoot with a RED scarlet camera at 4k resolution, pretty nifty in 2012.

What do you do in your spare time?

When I’m not designing or managing projects, I try to have as much private life as possible and maybe occasionally squeeze in a rock climbing session.
