Microsoft’s Movie Maker and Apple’s iMovie are two of the most common entry level video editing software programs. Microsoft’s Movie Maker is a very basic entry level editing system with basic timeline and effects support. It provides very little in the way of customization. On the other hand Apple’s iMovie is a very robust entry level editing package. It has many features found in more advanced systems as well as the ability to edit many of the effects and presets. It also comes with a wide variety of templates and trailers.
